Seattle Stencils Not all graffiti is done freehand with a can of spray paint. Much more sophisticated designs can be done using stencils. And a side benefit is that the same design can be done over and over again using a stencil. The really savy flip the stencil and go from right-facing to left-facing.
While using stencils to do street art has a long history in Europe, especially France, its use is relatively rare here in the States. This is from one who's been photographing graffiti throughout the U.S. over the last 4 or 5 years. But fear not, stencil graffiti is comin' on strong here in Seattle of late.
The shots were taken in Feb04 both downtown, in Belltown, and Capitol Hill.
