When you first start meditating, hearing someone tell you what to do can be helpful. These guided meditation MP3 files will teach you how to relax and meditate. Download them or listen to them online.

Find a nice quiet place, away from noise and interuptions. Turn off your cell phone, IM, Outlook alerts, and other gadgets. Get comfortable. Put on headphones. Focus on your breath. Listen to the voice and relax.

A good place to start if you've never meditated before is Talk Me Into It. It features me coaching you into a calm, relaxed state, using autogenic phrases and other relaxation prompts. It's only 5:25 long (to accomodate my impatient kids' request). The result is a very straightforward guided meditation. Headphones optional but highly recommended.

1 Minute Relaxation is an abbreviated guided meditation. Quick and to the point, it assumes you know where you're going and just need a gentle nudge to prod you along. A fast refresher course. Headphones optional but highly recommended.
