Online Dating Sites

There's no lack of web sites that claim to help you find love and romance online. We all know about match, eHarmony, chemistry, the Yahoo! personals, and the like. The online dating market has matured now and there are plenty of new faces. Market segmentation and all.

Back in the day (before I met my wife via craigslist CE), I was a big fan of Nerve. Now there are a buncha sites catering to every whim, flavor, and demographic.

FlipMe dating site FlipMe
An intriguing idea. Sign up and get a handful of cards that you then give to people you're interested in. They contact you through the FlipMe site. The cards are clever and ideal for the shy among us. It's more involved than I'm making it out to be so you should check out their web site.

FlipMe dating site Cheek'd
Similar to FlipMe in that you're given cards which you hand out. People contact you through the Cheek'd site. No more handing out your business card with your real deets on it. The card I like says "i just put all your drinks on my tab." followed closely by "tag. you're it." and "we'll laugh about this a year from now."

Are You Interested dating site Are You Interested
I'm sure it sounded good to those who dreamed this up but the idea of tying my iPhone and Facebook to my search for strangers to get nekkid with is cause for concern. I dated my share of off-kilter women (and I'm sure there are those who will say the same about me). I like the privacy a bit of anonymity provides. YMMV

Urban Singles dating site Urban Singles
is unique not only because it's trageted towards African-Americans (urban, get it?) but because the site attempts to be a destination above and beyond matchmaking: music videos, games, comedy, internet radio stations, etc.

SpeedDate.comSpeedDate
YouTube meets speed dating. No more face-to-face, no you do it all online. They claim you go on lots of live 3-minute dates via webcam or text chat and then vote for who you like. The problem is that most folks misrepresent themselves online. Woman's weight and men's height. I dunno. Can I send my avatar in as my proxy?

WooMe.com WooMe
Fun, free and fast way to meet people using live video and voice speed sessions. Meet 5 people in 5 minutes and see who WOOs you! Yeah, right. Sounds like something that makes it easier for people to reject you.

A quick online search turns up plenty of specialty, micro niche dating sites. Pick your pigeon hole, select your mate.

Don't forget to explore the other dating pages in the left-hand navigation. Especially those relating to craigslist, the new frontier in online romance.
