This site will look much better in a browser that supports web standards, but it is accessible to any browser or Internet device.
There's no lack of web sites that claim to help you find love and romance online. We all know about match, eHarmony, chemistry, the Yahoo! personals, and the like. The online dating market has matured now and there are plenty of new faces. Market segmentation.
SpeedDate
YouTube meets speed dating. No more face-to-face, no you do it all online. They claim you go on lots of live 3-minute dates via webcam or text chat and then vote for who you like. Can I send my avatar in as my proxy?
Say-hey-hey
Date. Hook-up. Lounge. Or so they say. And it's free too! Watch their video intro for starters. Who's she? And what's with the booze?? Can I date her?!?! Must say hearing the site's name wears thin after awhle.
WooMe
Fun, free and fast way to meet people using live video and voice speed sessions. Meet 5 people in 5 minutes and see who WOOs you! Yeah, right. Sounds like something that makes it easier for people to reject you.
Ice Brkr
The pitch here is that Ice Brkr is like a Facebook friend request but in the real world using your cell phone. Sounds like it's for those too shy to approach someone face-to-face but nerdy enough to use a cell phone instead. Not sure what kind of first impression this makes or it it helps you get laid or not.
Crazy Blind Date
They set you up on quick dates with total strangers at public places like bars and coffee shops on very short notice. You're not allowed to see their picture or even communicate. The catch? You have to live in one of their cities: Austin, Boston, NYC, or The Bay. This goes beyond "casual" and borders on a non-date date.
You may want to play with one or more of these new sites before they go mainstream. Early adaptor and all. If nothing else you'll be one of relatively few folks on them for now. While this will make you stick out, the flip side is that they'll have a smaller pool of potential mates until they go mainstream. Circular isn't it?
I'm in an LTR these days but I was a big craigslist and nerve fan. YMMV
A quick online search turns up plenty of specialty, micro niche dating sites. Pick your pigeon hole, select your mate.
Don't forget to explore the other dating pages in the left-hand navigation. Especially those relating to craigslist, the new frontier in online romance.
