IMHO the Black Panthers were the vanguard of the revolutionary movement in the 60's and 70's. Hands down. Why else would the FBI direct COINTELPRO against the Party?
Founded in Oakland CA by Bobby Seale and Huey Newton, The Black Panther Party was active from 1966 to 1982. The Party was a community-based organization active around the world that fostered and end to police brutality, community control, and end to oppressive capitalism and American imperialism.
The Panther’s vision was spelled out in the 10 Point Program. Social programs included the free breakfast program, free medical clinics, free clothing, and sickle cell testing.
