QR Code Barcode

QR-codes are barcodes than can be scanned with a cell phone. The QR code is decoded by the phone which then acts upon the data in the barcode. One example is embedding a URL in the QR code. Scan it with your phone and it takes you to a specific web page.

QR codes can be plastered all over town. Imagine a movie opening and the posters all over town have QR codes in them. Snap a picture with your phone and perhaps a preview clip is pushed to your phone. Or a free ringtone when you leave a concert. Put them around a college campus to help orient new students (or at least those lucky enough to have the right phone).

Delivering microfocused, location specific information. Graffiti triggering phone content. Cell phones as kiosks. Tourists rejoice. Geocachers rejoice. Subway maps for all.
