Noise? White, Pink, Brown. Take your pick.

Noise comes in all colors. Perhaps you're familiar with white noise, pink noise,/a>, or brown noise. Now that you're here, you can download free MP3 noise files. Each file is 1 minute long and mono.

Click on each individual file to play the sound right in your browser. Right click on a file to save it onto your hard drive. Then you'll be able load it onto an MP3 player, play it on your computer, or burn it to a CD. Play with them, use them as sound bites, sample them, make it your ringtone. Download 'me and use 'em!

White noise has a spectral frequency of 1. Equal proportions of all frequencies are present. Because our ears are sensitive to high frequencies, white noise sounds very "hissy".

MP3 file pink noisepink noise
Pink noise has a spectral frequency of 1/f and is the most natural sounding of the noises. It has a fractal-like nature.

MP3 file brown noisebrown noise
Brown noise has a spectral frequency of 1/f^2. There are many more low-frequency components resulting in thunder- and waterfall-like sounds.
