Tech help for Haiti. Because we can. Because we must.
Nearly everyone on planet Earth can help the people in Haiti in some way. Small donations accumulate to provide significant help.
How can you help?
Text your donation
- • By now many people know that you can text the phrase Haiti to 90999 and $10 will be donated to the Red Cross. That charge will be on your next phone bill.
- • Did you know that Wyclef Jean's grassroots organization Yéle Haiti has a similar text-message campaign? Text YELE to 501501 to contribute $5 toward food distribution and emergency relief mobilization. Your donation through Yéle Haiti will be charged directly to your cell phone bill.
Donate from your Paypal or Google account
- • Have a little extra money you've forgotten about in your PayPal or Google Checkout account? Donate it to the Haiti Earthquake Children in Emergency Fund, administered by Save the Children. PayPal is waiving the fees for the time being.
Lots of other ways
- • If you use MyPoints you can donate your points to the Red Cross. I emptied my account.
- • Amazon is coordinating donations through MercyCorps.
- • Craigslist has a page with information about donating to Haiti
- • CNN has a list too.
- • Donate your frequent flyer miles and other travel awards to the Hatian relief effort.
- • If you like Doctors Without Borders and you're a geek like me you'll appreciate Télécoms sans Frontières
Let's pitch in and help rebuild Haiti. They deserve it. What do you have you can share? What can you do you can contribute? How can we all work together to end pain and suffering through love and compassion. Come on now, be creative!
“Few of us will have the greatness to bend history, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total of all of those acts will be the written history of this generation.”
Robert F. Kennedy
