Folding @ Home is a distributed computing project from Stanford University. This screensaver and application are examples of grid computing. Folding At Home is available for Windows, Linux, and the Macintosh is used to simulate protein folding. By contribute your unused CPU cycles towards this collective effort we can all help search for a cure for Alzheimer's, cancer, Huntington's Disease, Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Parkinson's Disease, and Ribosome & antibiotics.
Folding At Home uses your spare computing cycles to simulate protein folding. Trust me, you won't miss the cycles you contribute to the cause. We all act collectively as a virtual super computer. Distributed computing (grid computing) projects are cheaper than large mainframes.
I encourage you to visit the project's home page. Of course they have a FAQ about the whole project. You can download the software here.
When you download and install the FAH client please join the JetCityOrange Folding Team (team #51857). Our team's results will reflect the time your computer is running the Folding At Home software. I know we're a little late starting a team and its a small team at that but we look forward to your contribution to our modest stats.
Thanks!
