So who is this guy?
In short, a nerd in Seattle. But don't jump to hasty conclusions or evoke cliched stereotypes.
I'm a Rust Belt Baby, born and raised in Cleveland, which explains much of my attitude problem. I escaped to Ann Arbor back in the day (74-79). I moved to Boston to study acupuncture at the New England School of Acupuncture with folks like Dr. So and Ted Kaptchuk. I moved to Seattle over 20 years ago obstensibly to relocate my practice.
One thing led to another and I never picked needles up again. I landed at Aldus when PageMaker was the thing. I'd played with computers off and on since the mid-60s and had been a phototypsetter too. I learned to program PostScript from engineers at Adobe, applied my newfound knowledge to printing barcodes (don't ask), and founded Azalea Software on my kitchen table. That was 17 years ago.
My laugh often precedes me. Once you hear it you never forget it. I use it often.
I'm 54 and Dad to three teenage boys: 14, 17, and 20. I love photography. I'm a 728 Club member. I'm Lisa's sweetheart, Carmel and Elmer's oldest son.
I do JetCityOrange for personal reasons. It's my digital playground and a soapbox/forum for my creative spurts. Over the years I've been blessed with thousands and thousands of visitors. I've met great people as a result.
I have a presence on Flickr and YouTube. And Facebook. Riding a bike makes me feel young and puts a smile on my face. The beard comes and goes. It's gone now for the foreseeable. Soy chai, double Americano with lots of room, or a double short latte, pretty much in that order. Thinkpad SP3 and I still use PageMaker as my word processor. I a couple webcams with more in the works.
Dogs over cats, pie over cake, beer over wine. Pontiac Vibe GT, T-Mobile Dash, no watch. Ginger before Mary Ann, but both ultimately. The one and only Republican I ever voted for, I knew personally. The Dems are wimps. Yes, I'm a leftist. Unabashedly so. Vegetarian since 01feb71; fin'n'feather these days, as in no mammels. Wardrobe by Dobbie Gillis. 49.2 days on my iPod, ripped from my CDs, no stolen P2P thank you very much. Quite happy in life. Sag Sun, Pisces Moon, Taurus rising, Uranus & south node conjunct on my 4th house cusp. Go figure. A modest householder taking refuge in The Three Jewels, trying to live by the 5 Precepts doin' the Bodhisattva thing.
After barcodes all these years, XML makes me smile. I like visiting The Bay, the Upper West Side, Beantown, and especially Vancouver. Flaneur thank you very much.
