Tattoos on Buddhists (& non-Buddhists alike)

2nd Setting Buddha tattoo

2nd Setting Buddha, by joe.kreischer

When asked about his tat, this is what Joe had to say:

Why? It's my way of keeping things simple. Be right, do right, say right, etc ... you get my drift. What's worked in the past, should work again ... it's a timeless symbol of the simple things ...

I have monkey brain - I sit when I can or need to sit. I find that getting a tattoo is a lesson in patience, control, being calm, etc ... there have been times when I could have fallen asleep while getting one.

My back is also filled with reference ... the enso, the lotus, the waves, the wisdom eyes on my ribcage ... they all remind me to sit, keep quiet, listen, watch, but basically just sit still for a minute. :)

My art isn't widely known. There's about 15 people in the world that know I have tattoos ... I get stuffed into a suit and tie all day and I want to feel at least some control of something ... The Buddha might not approve, but I don't think he's coming back to "save me ... or get me" :)

Next tattoo ... commissioned from Rubymoon Design on Deviant Art ... A deviant Buddha ... :)
